Organic formed free form vase by Willem Schalling. This vase with ear is hand painted in blue, black and white with with quick horizontal and vertical strikes.
Schalling made a number of unique hand formed vases from the late 1950s till the 1980s. He lived and worked in Amsterdam and was an assistant to the sculptor Hildo Krop who executed ornamental details for bridges and houses during the 1930-1940s and contributed to the Amsterdam School of Architecture.
