About the Item
A fabulous Edwardian match striker, clear glass decorated with spun red glass creating an unusual and highly decorative example.
The top is made from sterling silver fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1902 together with the maker's mark for the well renowned silversmith, John Grinsell and Sons.
Lovely condition with a few rough usage spots to the red ridges commensurate with age. 2 3/4" in diameter x 2 1/2" tall

The surface of this piece is embellished with a bright cut engraved crest of on a chapeau turned up a lion rampant supporting an arrow palewise feathered and headed to one side. This antique silver soup tureen retains the original hallmarked push fit cover, surmounted with the original hallmarked detachable shaped scrolling handle with acanthus leaf decoration. The antique silver soup tureen is fitted with thread decorated loop handles with acanthus leaf terminals. Condition This antique silver soup tureen is an excellent gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition. This piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body have wear in keeping with age and location, but all remain legible. The part hallmarks to the cover handle are all clear.
