Italian Mid 20th Century, Textured Pottery Carafe / Vase in Primitive Style, 60s

About the Item

we offer for sale a stunning pottery hand crafted in Italy and datable around the mid 20th century. The sculptural shape of this carafe/vase harks back to ancient and primitive forms, as does its textured surface. The texture and color obtained on the stoneware through the layering of glazes is in my opinion incredible. This apparently uniform brown earth color is actually rich in a thousand shades inside, there is the green of copper oxide, the sienna and the dark blue. Apparently made of cast iron, depending on the refraction of the light on the texured surface, you will be able to see all the colors that the ceramist who signed this piece as "I Bi " has layered in order to obtain this result. The article is intact and with a great patina. Reach out with any additional questions
