Karen Karnes salt glazed jar w/ lid.
A standard format for the artist, this particular piece is a great example, solid and well executed some great details in the glazing, fading and a variance of oranges, browns and beige tones.
The form has structural balance with brutal and natural textures throughout.
Karnes is most notably associated with the Black Mountain College, the arts center located in North Carolina was the base for many well known artists and creators of the last century including, John Cage, Merce Cunningham and Josef and Anni Albers among many others.
