Grains were gathered, stored in large clay vessels, and placed in sheds or cisterns, keeping a family’s harvest flavorful and fresh through all seasons. Today, this one-of-a-kind piece is a stunning centerpiece or design anchor in a modern home, inviting antiquity and abundance into gardens, living rooms, hallways and entryways. The Aydın region of Anatolia, which is located in western Turkey, has rich history of pottery making, dating back to ancient times. Aydın potters often involve hand-building methods (working with clay by hand using only simple tools) such as coiling, pinching, and slab construction, making this, quite literally, a handmade piece of Anatolian history. *One-of-a-kind and marked by time, each of these pieces will show patina and natural imperfections. From oil stains to oxidation, we consider these alterations to be portals into a time long ago.
