Antique Lead Lined Salting Trough

About the Item

Dating from the 1700s, this Georgian period lead lined salting trough is a rare find. It is a timepiece from history, salvaged from a farm in Norfolk. It has stood the test of time; its lead lining and sturdy pine structure having survived exceptionally well for more than 200 years. Centuries ago, it was likely used as a trough or tray in which to salt meat and baste fish. Today, it is an antique object of interest, ideal for a live in museum, telling the story of times gone by. Note: Decorative use only; not suitable for use as a sink or for food preparation.
