18th Century Lead Planter

About the Item

A splendid late 18th-century large lead cylindrical planter. The sides of the planter display scenes of classical figures and flowing vines with a central eagle motif on one side. The other side displays the initials I.S.F which almost certainly would have been the family owners who commissioned the piece to be made. The planter was discovered in the South West of England and purchased from a large private collection of gardenalia. Holes have been added to the base of the planter at a much later date to assist in the drainage of its contents. Age-related wear and historical fixes only add to the unique charm of this wonderful garden planter. English, circa 1780. H: 47 CM H: 18.5 INCHES W: 43 CM W: 16.9 INCHES
