Antique Pair of Restored Pugin Gothic Style circa 1840 Plant / Display Stands

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning pair of restored antique circa 1840 Pugin Gothic style display stands A very good looking and decorative pair, I actually purchased these for my house, the plan was to have them sitting either of a Welsh dresser with medium sized plants or bronzes on however we changed the layout and they are no longer needed They are of course gothic pugin style, made in pine and with a glorious timber patina. They have been washed back and French polished by a Victorian trained French polisher. They have a wonderful patination that I wouldn’t dream of changing Dimensions Height:- 53.5cm Width:- 39.5cm Depth:- 39.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point. This item is available for collection from our Pulborough warehouses Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.

We are delighted to offer for sale this exceptionally rare Gothic Revival circa 1840 solid oak partner desk with top drawer writing slope and side bookcases made by either Gillows of Lancaster or Pugin Where to begin, this desk has been on a journey, when I first received the piece it looked like it had been French polished and waxed around 20 times, it had a very clumpy sticky finish, my restorers have stripped back all that horrible guck, they have then lightly stained and French polished it the correct way which has kept all the period patina and simply made it golden, The leather top and writing slope top has been replaced with fully aniline natural cattle hide leather that was plain, I’ve then had my leather polishers dye it this gorgeous whisky brown colour.
