A French 19th century Japonisme st. Cloisonné and Ormolu planter/vase

About the Item

A stunning and most elegant French 19th century Belle Epoque Period Japonisme st. Cloisonné and Ormolu planter/vase. This wonderful Jardinière is raised by four scrolled feet supporting a finely chased pierced Ormolu base decorated with dragon masks and foliate scrolls. Above the base is the exceptional Cloisonné body of the planter displaying superbly executed Polychrome flowers and butterflies on a teal and gold geometric background. Flanking the planter are two beautifully rendered Ormolu dragons climbing up the sides of the body and leading to an intricately pierced Ormolu gallery. The original copper insert is set within the interior and comes complete with original lattice designed lid.
