About

A colorful French Majolica ceramic cachepot with flower decoration from the Art Deco period. Produced with slip clay, barbotine in French, the piece is molded to achieve lots of texture and detail. A repeating wildflower sprouts up from the bottom, the stem curving slightly and sending off two buds, ending at the top in full bloom. Eight flowers total grace the pot, creating a scalloped rim. Raised stippling between the flowers makes for phenomenal texture, both visually and in three dimensions. The loosely applied glaze colors complement each other well, with a warm brown background under the raised dots next to the cool blue on the flower stems and outer petals. Yellow and cranberry red finish out the blooms.
