About the Item

With its striking surface and generous scale, this large ceramic vase or planter offers a contemporary reinterpretation of Swankhalok style—an aesthetic rooted in the ancient Thai kilns of Sukhothai. Its ovoid form is both grounded and elegant, tapering subtly to a narrow base and finished with a wide 6.5-inch opening ideal for tall branches or dried arrangements. The glaze, a rich gradient of ivory, taupe, and espresso brown, cascades down the body in rhythmic drips and feathered streaks, evoking traditional ash glazing techniques with a distinctly modern edge. This piece brings sculptural presence to console tables, pedestals, or low tables in an entryway, gallery wall, or minimalist interior. The vertical movement of the pattern adds visual height, while the soft sheen of the glaze reads beautifully under both natural and directed lighting. Though rooted in Thai ceramic tradition, the form and palette suit contemporary interiors as well as Asian, boho, or wabi-sabi design schemes.
