About the artist: Giovanni Toccafondo (1932-1996) Painter, sculptor and ceramist born in Cingoli, Italy, he completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. From the early 1960s he moved to Romagna working in Gabicce, Cattolica, Riccione and Misano. After having held the position of artistic director at some of the San Marino ceramic factories, he moved to Milan where, starting from the late 1960s, he took part in numerous solo and group exhibitions. Back in Romagna he began his teaching activities. In 1982 he took part in the Faenza International Ceramic Competition, an experience he repeated in 1984, and in the same years he presented some of his works at the Gualdo Tadino Ceramics Exhibition. In the mid-1980s a serious illness forced him to retire prematurely from artistic activity and he died in 1996.
