A captivating pair of 19th-century French Opaline & Gilt Bronze Aesthetic 'Fairy' Motif Cachepots, dating to the 1870s and attributed to the prestigious French Glass works, Baccarat. These cachepots are a fine example to the Aesthetic Movement's influence on art and design during that era.
Of square form, they are encased in the elegance of gilt bronze cast and engraved 'stick & ball' mounts, adding subtle opulence to their design. The front and back panels are adorned with intricate hand-painted vignettes, each capturing a unique fantasy-themed aesthetic around fairy mythology. These enchanting scenes depict the harmonious relationship between nature, depicted in soft earth tones with butterflies, flowers, and the essence of springtime folly.
