About the Item

Sculpted during the early 20th century in China's Shanxi province, this clay vessel has a smoky grey exterior with balanced proportions and a beautifully irregular unglazed surface. Charged with the humble task of storing dry goods, the jar has a tapered form with a narrow base, high shoulders, and a flat rim. Left undecorated, the jar has a quiet beauty, patterned only by firing imperfections and the brushed texture of its mottled slip clay finish. We love this minimal vessel today as a planter for indoor houseplants. Additional Dimensions: Diameter of Opening: 10.25" Lifestyle photography courtesy of Yung Atelier.
