About the Item

A very rare ceramic flowerpot, a jardinière, in the then-popular chinoiserie style from the "Taiping" series by Villeroy & Boch, Mettlach, Germany, circa 1900. Marked on the bottom with the Taiping series stamp and the maker's stamp of Villeroy & Boch Mettlach. This beautiful flowerpot is decorated with colorful cherry blossoms and gold details on a "Royal Blue" background. The floral decoration is hand-painted. In 1809, Jean-François Boch opened a factory in Mettlach, Germany. On April 14, 1836, the company merged with that of Nicolas Villeroy to become Villeroy & Boch (V&B). In 1976, the Heinrich porcelain factory in Selb, Bavaria, was acquired. Since its founding, the brand has been synonymous with high-quality ceramics. Their dedication to craftsmanship is evident in every piece they produce. Each collection from this brand is a testament to centuries of expertise and meticulous craftsmanship. These pieces are therefore highly collectible and sought-after worldwide! This flowerpot is in excellent antique condition, with minimal signs of age and use consistent with its age, such as slight fading of the gold plating and light marks on the bottoms of the legs. Extremely rare in this condition. See the photos for more details! Dimensions: 30x12x11cm. Weight: 0.852kg.
