Large Antique 19th Century Hammered French Copper Water Jug with Handle

About the Item

A wonderful antique French Water jug in copper. This handmade jug dates from the late-19th Century and is a great exemple of craftsmanship from this era. Most likely made by a local French artisan (no marks, no stamps). The harmonious round shape, the impressive size, the quality of the metal work and the attention to details really make this antique vessel Stand out compared to other copper jugs from the same period. It was surely already a high-end item at the time. A beautiful jug, a true statement piece to be cherished. Sourced in the eastern part of France, near the borders to Germany and Switzerland. In very good vintage condition. The jug has not been repaired, nor polished - it is sold in its original patina. Some signs of wear on the inside and the outside coherent with use and age (see photos). Dimension: height 40.5 cm/ 15 3/4", width with handle 33 cm/ 13", depth 25 cm/ 9 3/4".
