Neoclassical Style Bronze Mounted Hand Painted Porcelain Urn
About the Item
This is a heavy mounted gilt bronze porcelain urn. It is hand painted in the center of the body with a pastoral scene of a romantic couple seated and the gentleman is offering a bouquet of flowers to the lady. The other side depicts a scene of a maid showing a basket of flowers to a lady, while another lady observes some birds and a male servant is apparently rolling a yard stick. A relief of white feathers with gilt borders adorned above and below the hand painted scenes. A gilt bronze wide band embellished with a relief of acanthus leaves covers the neck. From it come out one gilt bronze “S” shaped handle adorned with scrolls of acanthus leaves at each side of the vase. The foot of the urn is decorated with a relief of white acanthus leaves with gilt borders. A heavy gilt bronze with embossed flowers and leaves support the urn.
