Pair of 19th Century Marble and Bronze Cassolettes
About the Item
Pair of 19th Century Marble & Bronze Cassolettes make an excellent choice for providing beauty, elegance and symmetry to any room! Such decorative items were created for the affluent class during the Belle Epoque, when classical style was considered essential to any proper interior. Sculpted from solid richly veined marble then mounted with intricately detailed bronze adornment, each is set upon footed pediments lavished with acanthus plumes and laurels. At the top we see finials with grape clusters (or pomegranates if you prefer) over an elegantly embossed cap pattern. The handle design, however, is most visually striking with boldly executed swans and fancifully draped fabric completely surrounding the upper portion of the marble. Truly an impressive way to add opulence to any room!
