Pair of French Bronze and Slate Tazzae
About the Item
Each exuberantly modeled with trailing acanthus on a pounced ground, with dragon- form handles and spiral-fluted stem, the slate base of square section supported by four stylized dolphins .
These striking and unusual urns are highly decorative. Whilst the bodies of the fish are plainly dolphins, the faces seem to be morphing into sea beasts of some kind.
