A Pair of French Louis XVI Style Marble and Ormolu Cassolettes, 19th Century
Provenance: Private UK Collection.
Description:
The lobed ovoid body of each urn form faux cassolette rising from a ring of ormolu acanthus leaves, with a musical trophy to the front and back of the belly between rinceaux handles, each cassolette ascending from a moulded ormolu collar to a scotia neck and an integral domed faux cover with an egg-and-dart ormolu rim and surmounted by an acorn finial, above a scotia foot rising from an imbricated bay leaf moulding to a water leaf collar, raised on a stepped square base.
