About the Item
One of my favorite things in decoration is bring a piece of stone into the mix. In this case it's a very early large mortar from the beginning of the 1700s or earlier from Spain. These would have been used for anything from household preparation of food, in monasteries , herbal medicines or agricultural uses. The granite ones are especially good for repeated use being non-porous and durable. It is extremely heavy and take two people to move it.
