This is a vintage neo-classical urn. A Continental, Bakelite decorative ornament in Grand Tour taste, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1930. Striking forms, with serpentine flourishes throughout Displaying. desirable aged patina and in good order Ornate upper presents dark tonality with light weathering Raised upon a bold Bakelite socle, with warm cream hues Strong neo-classical taste evident throughout Ornate domed lid topped with a charming acorn finial Foliate decor accentuates the lower section, with beading to the lid edge Imposing lion head mask projects from the front and rear fascia, upon a scrolled relief Of expressive form, the pair of sinuous handles terminate in bird head masks In relief, an Acanthus leaf bulb decorates the support with a gadrooned circumference The tactile socle finished in a naive, marble effect pattern Dressed to the base with a protective velvet pad in black This is a fascinating and decorative vintage neo-classical urn, with strong Grand Tour taste to the flowing form.
