About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this one of a kind, fully signed, original circa 1930 Roger Guerin ceramic pots of large proportions with Deer decoration and handles I have three posts for sale, one has a stitched detailing, another, fleur de lis and lastly one with handles and Deers, this sale is for the pot pictured alone. Roger Guèrin (1896-1954) was one of the leading Belgian ceramists in Bouffioulx near Charleroi. Typical was his use of flowing glazes in his decorations. He was true to the history of this region, often working on a type of hard ceramic (fired to over 1250 degrees Celsius) which was made there since the late Middle Ages. He exhibited at the Paris expos of 1925 and 1937. A very good looking well made and decorative piece, it is really quite large and looks stylish and important in any setting, this is the only one with handles The condition is very good, I can’t see any chips or scratches to note, the base will have some light patina wear around the rim but that’s pretty common with pottery from this period Dimensions Height:- 40.5cm Width:- 40cm Depth:- 25.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.

Richard LE CORRONE at CIBOURE Large Stoneware Vase, Early 1950s
By Ciboure, Richard Le Corrone
Located in Saint-Amans-des-Cots, FR
Large stoneware vase by Richard Le Corrone at Ciboure, France, early 1950s. High technical quality rotating antelope decor. Jarraila technique. Two elegant handles. Height : 9.8"(25cm), Diameter : 8.7"(22cm). Signed "R. Le Corrone" and stamped "RF Ciboure" under the base. CIBOURE pottery was founded in 1919 on the Basque coast by Etienne Vilotte (1881-1957), Louis Benjamin Victor Floutier (1882-1936) and a man named LUKAS. In 1922, the date of the formal establishment of the company, Vilotte is the manager. From its inception, the style is clearly defined. A classical orientation, strongly imbued with the antique style and taking advantage of the neo-Greek wave. The characteristics of Art Deco are a source of inspiration as well as the regional style is an influence. The goal is clear: to offer high quality and decorative items whose forms are inherited from the ancient or traditional Basque containers. The sandstone reflects this enthusiasm for this growing area since the late 19th century. In 1945, Rudolf Fischer bought the pottery on which it imposes its trademark in 1951 - RF CIBOURE - to replace the old - VE CIBOURE -. It will be replaced later by that of his son Max Fischer - MF CIBOURE -. He brings technical and artistic changes such as molding, baking more oxidizing and parts production utilities. This pottery owes its success, in addition to the decorative qualities and originality of its production, to an excellent marketing, particularly among Parisian department stores. Finally we note the names of its principal designers, the first and until 1922: Louis Floutier...
