19th Century Art Nouveau Pewter Vase

About the Item

Monumental pewter vase; German; ca 1885-1910; molded pewter, having a gourd-shaped body, long neck, and inward-flared lip with low relief irises and peonies enveloping the base and neck; applied molded lug handles; marked "Kayserzinn, over 4472, the mark for J.P. Kayser & Son"; 21" tall, 11" at base. The firm J.P. Kayser & Son in Krefeld-Bochum, Germany was known for its progressive style in the period 1894-1912. It was a leading factory making pewter.
