20th century Italian murano glass vase
Glass vase made in Murano - Venice - Italy by the Gabbiani artisan manufacture.
The base is dark blue with some flakes of pure gold inserted, while the stem is almost all gold having been inserted many more pure gold flakes
The cup is conical and made of light blue spiral glass, also decorated with flakes in pure gold.
The craftsmanship with which the centerpiece has been made is typical of the hand-made works that are characteristic of the city of Murano - Venice which made it famous all over the world.
The true quality of the island of Murano, however, was the man with his experience, who over time has perfected the styles, the quality and the ability to shape the incandescent glass. These glass artists have always been contacted since the Renaissance to bring their skills to the courts and workshops, so much so that they became masters. In fact, for this reason, a glass school was activated in Murano that initiated young people to this profession even if the experience in the glass factory remained unique. In the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, Murano glass was in demand by the highest social classes in Europe.
Even today, this craftsmanship makes this Italian tradition unique in the world.
