About the Item

Analogic Sci-Fi Violet Vase by Mut Design Limited Edition Dimensions: D 25 x W 25 x H 45 cm. Materials: Glass colored. Inspired by computer motherboards and the flamboyant spacecrafts of the Starwars saga, this very limited edition of sci-fi vases (up to 4 pieces at most) is a twist on the glass fusing technique and also the first collaboration under the aegis of Bruto. This process allows for fusing together two or more pieces of glass in a kiln until the glass melts. “We wanted to do something ultramodern here by lowering the temperature of the kiln, so glass wouldn’t melt completely. This way we obtain a bas-relief on the four different faces of the vase. We have a glass surface with a texture that we then paint in bright colours”, designer Alberto Sánchez explains. It is tactile as it is visual, and again, loudly industrial. For fellow designer Mireia Pérez, “it was really exciting because we were able to create something that looks digital without using a computer as we crafted the vases on site, at Sara Sorribes’s glass workshop in Valencia”. BRUTO is born with the idea of questioning what it means to be brutal. An imaginary inhabited by raw and honest objects. BRUTO started in our family workshop as a way of experimenting with materials and construction methods with the idea to obtain unconventional results and blurring the boundaries between art and design and stripped from any rules. BRUTO is Mut design’s purest essence new brand, a brand that aims to be a home of collaborations with other like-minded creatives and friends.
