About the Item

An etched and fused cast glass vase in the modernist manner by Anatole Riecke. Signed A. Riecke 1939. Anatole Riecke was a Russian artist active in Paris from the 1930's to the 1960's. In 1937 he carried out the glass decoration of the iconic Parisian restaurant "La Coupole".  Many artists used to attend the restaurant : Jean Cocteau, Foujita, Kisling, Giacometti, Zadkine, Joséphine Baker, Man Ray, Georges Braque ou Brassaï, Picasso, Jean-Paul Sartre, Sonia Delaunay, Marc Chagall and Édith Piaf.
