About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Chinese Export Silver and cherry wood based vase; an addition to our ornamental Asian silverware collection. This impressive antique Chinese Export silver vase has a tapering cylindrical rounded form with a plain waisted neck. The surface of each vase is embellished with a fine and impressive embossed rural oriental scene, all on a matte background. The decoration to the body incorporates a vacant shield shaped cartouche. The vase is fitted with two exceptional handpieces modelled in the form of three-dimensional undulating dragons. The figural pedestal of the vase is represented by a bulbous dragon head design. This 19th century Chinese silver vase is fitted to the original cherry wood base; the vase is fitted with an internal silver dowel pin which provides a concealed attachment to the plinth, securing to the underside with a screw fitment. The hallmarks struck to the screw fitment of this impressive antique silver vase includes: Maker's mark: C.S (Cum Shing, (Canton & Shanghai)) Retailer's mark: Ren Xin (Canton) A 19th-century Chinese silver vase is a distinguished gift or collectible, valued for its intricate craftsmanship and cultural significance. Ideal as a centrepiece or collection highlight, it embodies heritage, artistry and timeless elegance. Condition This antique Chinese vase is a superior gauge of silver for its type, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The embossed decoration is all very sharp. There is a slight loss to the cherry wood base; this does not detract from the aesthetic appearance of the piece. The Chinese hallmarks struck to the screw fitment are all very clear. The hallmarks struck to the underside of these impressive antique vases include: Maker's mark: GW (Gem Wo) Character mark: Untraced These exceptional vases have been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as sterling silver (925, 925/1000). This exceptional antique Chinese Export Silver (CES) box has a plain rectangular form. The surface of the body is encompassed with exceptional chased oriental Chinese dragon designs amidst clouds, all on a matte background; each panel bears a plain and unembellished border. This antique silver box is fitted with a hinged silver cover, bearing a continuation of cloud ornamentation to the side panels. The upper plateau of the cover is ornamented with two further dragon designs accented with impressive emanating whiskers, incorporating a circular vacant cartouche to the centre.
