About the Item

Vintage vase was decorated with Art Deco style design of a child, looking at the flowers they are holding. Johansfors Glassbruk employed the traditional copper-wheel engraving method, done by hand by their team of skilled artisans. The flat sides of the minimally shaped vase are lightly faceted and serve as a perfect canvas for the engraved image. The vase is marked with the original factory sticker and "Handmade" sticker on the bottom. Johansfors glassworks were founded in 1891, producing domestic glass and specializing in enameled and cut decoration. Most of the art glass made in 1938-1947 was designed by Gustaf Hallberg; in 1950-1972 the glassworks were run by Sixten Wennerstrand, who rebuild and modernized the factory and employed the talented Bengt Orup as a designer. In 1972 Johansfors was bought by Afors Group, which was later absorbed into Kosta Boda, and the factory concentrated mainly on stemware.
