About the Item

Art Déco italian glazed ceramic vase/amphora with handle and double spout By: unknown Material: paint, ceramic Technique: enameled, glazed, hand-crafted, molded, painted, pressed Dimensions: 11 in x 14 in Date: early 20th century Style: Art Déco Place of origin: Italy This glazed italian ceramic vase from the early 20th century exemplifies the Art Déco style with its sleek form and decorative fish motif. Crafted from clay, the vase features a bulbous body tapering to a narrow double spout handle at the neck. Delicate blue glaze in varied hues envelops the surface, including the stylized fish adorning the front. The bottom is signed "Ullum 56". Ceramic production flourished in Italy during this period, as artisans blended traditional techniques with modern aesthetic sensibilities. Clean lines and geometric or natural designs characterized italian Art Déco ceramics. Skilled molding and glazing transformed humble earthenware into objets d'art that embodied the era's emphasis on function and elegance. This vase is a fine example of the italian ceramic arts in the early 1900s.
