Art Deco large Vase Cloud Glass by George Davidson, English Ca 1930s

About the Item

This beautiful large Cloud Glass Vase was made by George Davidson & Co. of Gateshead, England who started production of cloud glass in 1923. This is there column vase shape or pattern 279 and is seen in their catalogues of 1931. The vase is polished on the outside with a matte finish to the inside. This vase was produced in 6, 8 and 10 inch sizes and this vase is their largest 10 inch size, which is much harder to find. Cloud glass is created by applying streaks or trails of dark colored glass to a paler base glass which is then compressed in a mould to create a beautiful random finished pattern, each piece being unique. We date this piece to the Art Deco period of the 1930s.
