About the Item

Art Deco Rarest Vase with Marigolds Flowers / Pâte de Verre MANUFACTORY: GABRIEL ARGY-ROUSSEAU / made in France / Paris, circa 1920 - 1925 DESIGNER: GABRIEL ARGY-ROUSSEAU (1885 - 1953 Paris) Joseph Gabriel Rousseau (called Gabriel Argy-Rousseau) - born in Meslay-le-Vidame in the year 1885 and died in year 1953 in Paris - was a sculptor, ceramics artist as well as glass specialist who entered into the equation when the so-said pâte de verre technique had been rediscovered as an important branch of Glass Art around Turn of Century. TECHNIQUE OF MANUFACTURE:   Pâte de Verre ( Glass casting is the process in which glass objects are cast by directing molten glass into a mould where it solidifies. - The technique has been used since the Egyptian period. Modern cast glass is formed by a variety of processes such as kiln casting, or casting into sand, graphite or metal moulds. - Pâte de verre is another form of kiln casting and literally translated means glass paste. In this process, finely crushed glass is mixed with a binding material, such as a mixture of gum arabic and water, and often with colourants and enamels. The resultant paste is applied to the inner surface of a negative mould forming a coating. After the coated mould is fired at the appropriate temperature the glass is fused creating a hollow object that can have thick or thin walls depending on the thickness of the pate de verre layers. [WIKIPEDIA] ) SPECIFICATIONS: FINEST PÂTE DE VERRE VASE OF EXTREME RARENESS (= ALMOST UNIQUE !) The vase's form type is similar to a beaker, on round foot as well as tapering, with wide round mouth. HALLMARKED: The reverse side of vase's round foot is plane - there is ENGRAVED NUMBER visible: 3708 The artist's signature is visible at area below, above the round foot (at outer wall): 'G.
