About the Item

Flavio Poli for Seguso - Sommerso Murano vase - Collectible Glass "Sommerso" is a defining style of Murano glassmaking, easily identified by the layers of different colours making up the finished piece. The technique, consisting in literally submerging molten glass into parts of different colours was created and perfectioned by designer Flavio Poli, during the time he spent as creative director of the Seguso furnace. The invention earned him the Golden Compass, the highest recognition for Italian designers. This piece, dating back to the mid 1960s, is preserved in very good conditions and is a wonderful example of what Poli used to design. It blends the distinctive Sommerso technique to vibrant shades of blue and to the fluid organic shapes that make Murano glass so attractive and sensual. It is a beautiful collectible decorative piece, which will brighten up any coffee table, bookshelf or console. Place it on a sideboard, on a nightstand or on a bookcase: it will bring a refined and unmatchable touch to your unique interior!
