About the Item
A pair of Black Amethyst Bristol Glass footed vases with hand enameled decoration, England, 1850 - 1870.
Charmingly decorated in raised enamel with a romantic design of white birds carrying baskets of fruit and flowers in their beaks, surrounded by floral sprays. A ruffled rim with light traces of gilded edging. Distinct Pontil marks on the underside of the base, made by the rod which is used by the artisans to hold the glass during shaping.
The hand painted enamel is exceptional. Lovely to have a pair.
