About the Item

This rare Swedish folk art stoneware pitcher or vase, crafted by Andersson & Johansson for Höganäs in Sweden, features a striking brown body with cream-white decoration. Designed by John Andersson in the 1920s, it showcases a strong modernist shape, giving it a dynamic and sculptural appearance. The vase is stamped "AJ Höganäs" underneath, a mark used between 1920-1958. John Andersson, who became artistic director in 1924, is renowned for his distinct personal style and is represented in the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm and Helsingborg's museum.
