About the Item

A fine Burmantofts Faience art pottery vase decorated with a sun burst pattern and dating from around 1890. The earthenware vase stands on a narrow round foot with a slightly recessed base with tall round bulbous ewer shaped body with a tall funnel shaped neck. The body of the vase is decorated with a finely incised sun burst pattern and applied with ox blood red glazes over a yellow glazed ground with swirls and piling in the glaze in places. The vase is marked BF ENGLAND to the base and is numbered 9 and 4. Provenance: From a small collection of Burmantofts acquired from a single source and acquired from the UK Art Market In excellent condition with light wear associated with age and use.
