About the Item
A rare and stylish Burmantofts Faience art pottery vase decorated with sun burst patterning and with a saffron glazed finish dating from around 1890. This stunning and elegant lightly potted earthenware vase stands on a narrow round foot with a recessed base and has a squat wide round body with a tall narrow neck with a wide fluted edge opening. The body of the vase is decorated with incised ‘sun burst’ patterning and is glazed in a deep saffron yellow, almost orange, glaze. The vase also has various impressed marks to the base along with an incised scroll work BF mark with impressed WEITE mark together with further initials R and B impressed separately. The vase is also number 1219.
Provenance: From a small collection of Burmantofts acquired from a single source and acquired from the UK Art Market
In excellent condition without loss or damage and with normal wear associated with age and use.
