Contemporary ceramic abstract tabletop sculpture glazed in rich, jewel tones by multidisciplinary artist Amadour. This piece, entitled "Braunton's Milk Vetch II", is the smaller of a pair from the artist's series 'Wildflowers and Birds' (pieces sold individually; the second, larger work is listed on our storefront). The sculpture is hand-built of whiteware, and finished in vibrant, glossy colorblocked glaze of deep purple and burgundy, topped by a pale violet and white ombré-like blend. This piece would be perfectly suited for a tabletop, pedestal, mantle piece, or desk accessory. This piece is available to view in situ at our gallery, which is situated in an 19th century townhouse on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and currently exhibited in a group show entitled "Green World" on view through March 13...

Hand-Built Glazed Ceramic Sculpture, entitled 'Cup & Saucer' by Brooklyn-based artist and ceramicist Jaye Kim. This generously oversized cup and saucer is scaled up for maximum impact, and glazed in a glossy mix of exuberant teal and vibrant royal blue that emphasizes the drippy textured surface with a subtle sheen that catches the light. This work is in two separate pieces, the cup, which sits atop the saucer. The cup can function as a vessel for an enormous bunch of flowers, a cachepot for a plant, or stand alone as a decorative object. With its monumental proportions, this piece brings a mega-size sense of whimsy and cheekiness to any setting. Jaye Kim is a Korean-American artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY. Her ceramic work is an exploration of her interior world regarding the symbolism and rituals of motherhood. Depicting the mundane objects Kim interacts with daily in ginormous scale, from cups and saucers to skin care face masks and cabbages, the ordinary is transformed into the interpersonal. In her oversized hand built vessels, surface details derived from her coiling and pinching emerge to tell a story about our everyday domestic objects, highlighted by delicate lustres and stunning, saturated glaze work.
