Ceramic Vase with Holes - Handmade - Italy - 1960s
About the Item
Large vase handmade of thick ceramic, painted in an intense blue, externally and white, internally.
The cross section of the vase is square with rounded corners.
On one side it has a decoration composed of a series of holes of various gauges, made by hand.
Note that the holes, considering the contour burrs, were made from the inside out.
It is presumable, therefore, that they were conceived after the ceramic was laid out as if it were a sheet, drilled and then worked until it was closed into a cylinder. At this point applied the bottom, put in baking.
The artist is unknown but it is easy to think he falls within Albisola's artistic circle.
