About the Item

Christer Sjögren (1926-2008) for Lindshammar, Sweden. A pair of decagon shaped ruby red tall glass vases, the 1960s. A stunning and very unusual pair of striking ruby red glass decagon shaped vases. Designed by Christer Sjögren for Lindshammar in 1965. The ruby red glass has got a very raw feeling to it and is decorated with horizontal stripes. Christer Sjögren (1926-2008) Ceramicist, glassworker and potter. Swedish sculptor and glass designer. Trained at the Konstfack (School of Art and Design) in Stockholm 1947-53 and then at the Konstakademien (Academy of Fine Art) 1953-58. Worked at Lindshammar glass factory from 1962-2003. When the Apollo 11 astronauts came home from the very first space flight to the moon they all received a Christer Sjögren, Lindshammar glass sculpture. However, the first one to receive it was Richard Nixon. Among many other museums, he is represented in Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Musée du Verre in Liegé and Museum Haaretz in Tel Aviv.
