A dragon motif porcelain vase in seafoam by Tozai, 20th century
About the Item
A very rare glazed porcelain vase with Chinese dragon motif by Tozai Home, 20th century. This piece glows in ivory white with an embossed decorative pattern in seafoam green, depicting a dragon which wraps around the entirety of the vessel. With an elegant shape blossoming gracefully at the center bulge, this piece will elevate any interior with a level of exotic sophistication. It is functional - ie it can hold water if you wish to furnish it with flowers - and it does cast lovely shadows on the wall if in the right light. A timeless piece that is reminiscent of designers like Jean Paul Gaultier who took cues from ancient Chinese symbology, in particular the Song dynasty, whose use of the dragon became officially embedded in royal tradition.
