About the Item

Artist statement: "This special vase is made by forging patinated copper. The patina is made with iron dissolved in nitric acid, applied by fire in several layers, and finished with beeswax. The idea of this piece is about marriage or couples: each side has its own characteristics, interior, soul, body, gesture; and two different sides of the vase match and combine forming one body that works together. A design based on the experience of life." Residing in the San Martin de los Andes of Patagonia, Celiz takes as his inspiration the splendor of his natural surroundings, incorporating the forms found in the beautiful lakes and the exquisite landscapes of the region into his work. His decorative artworks are wrought from a single plate of silver, a technique mastered by only a few artists in the world.
