English Ironstone Vase and Cover, Morley Ashworth Ironstone

About the Item

The octagonal-from vase has a deep blue ground and is painted in gilt and yellow with Rococo scrolls of foliage and vases of flowers. The dragon scroll handles and decorated with gilt heighten yellow, The double dolphin finial is similarly colored. The shape was originally introduced by William Ridgway and he called it 'India Jar'. It was produced both by WR& Co at the Church Works and by Ridgway, Morley, Wear & Co. at the Broad Street Works. When Francis Morley bought the Mason's rights the Mason designs also became linked with this shape. It was continued by Mason's. Dimensions: 20 inches high x 8 inches x 8 inches.
