About the Item

Epoca Ed.O. I by A. Vetra Dimensions: Ø 28 x H 46 cm Materials: Whity Clay. One of a kind. Epoca is a vase collection made with recycled clay and oxide finishing, whose textured objects, imperfect and poetic, play with shade and light. Working with natural materials teaches us to expect the unexpected, where imperfection is what makes the object unique and alive. Using mixtures of leftovers from different materials (Edizione Terra) adds a poetic touch to the process; the reaction to heat and air and the differences in the composition (Edizione Ossido) make the result unpredictable and precious. The idea of solids and voids interacting with light and shade inspires the shapes of this collection. They are changeable entities where light plays an important role, transforming the surface into a moving texture while blurring the edges of the volumes. If overlapped, the outlines of each vase complement the curves and voids of the others. This design connection ensures continuity in the essence of the different pieces while preserving the core originality of their aesthetic. Epoca, Edizione Ossido (Ed. O.) consists of two pieces in white clay covered in a manganese oxide finishing. Its uneven distribution creates a magnificent pattern: the motif changes randomly and generates condensed and big marks next to delicate speckles and drops. A. Vetra shapes concepts with a strong tactile identity and a human trace. It’s a project that explores craft and narratives rooted in a warm and familiar Mediterranean atmosphere, finding its strongest basis in slow processes, fascination for the handmade and connection with territories. As textile and home accessories editor, A. Vetra creates numbered-edition collections through collaborations with artisanal identities. Tangible objects that tell stories of the matter, manual abilities and long traditions. — A. Vetra was initiated in 2019 by Giulia Ferraris, an Italian product and textile designer based in between Northern Italy and Amsterdam. In her interdisciplinary exploration, traces of the past and modern visions engage in a tactile conversation, seeking a balance between the cultural heritage and contemporary aesthetic approaches. Giulia believes in objects with nostalgic value and an imperfect nature, finding beauty in their story and their permanent presence.
