Ernst Wahliss Turn Austrian Art Nouveau Twin Handled Portrait Vase

About the Item

A stunning Art Nouveau Austrian twin handled porcelain lidded vase decorated with the portrait of a winged putti by renowned Austrian ceramicist Ernst Wahliss (Austrian, 1837-1900) and made around 1900. The round bodied vase stands raised on four molded feet with an incised scroll patterned and bead edged base the round body with open scroll work handles applied to the sides and rising to a slender neck with further pierced designs a crown shaped top and domed and pierced cover. The vase is decorated a seated winged putti amidst flowering stems in blue on a green ground with applied white and gilded embellishments. The reverse side of the body is applied with a blue floral sprig of similar style. The base, handles, neck and cover are all gilded over a brown ground. The base of the vase is decorated with molded garlands and has a blue printed EW Turn mark along with impressed numbers 5423 and 11 and with painted numbers. In good condition. Ernst Wahliss (Austrian, 1837-1900) Turn with printed marks to the base.
