Masterpiece, rare vase, amphore, Ernst Wahliss, 1900 Art Nouveau, Vienna Austria

About the Item

This stunning vase was made by Royal Vienna Porcelain, with support from Ernst Wahliss (1837 - 1900). The vase is in amphora shape, hand painted and has the early mark on the underside. The porcelain vase is ivory colored with light green and brown painting. This spectacular classical form is particularly at the time of Art Nouveau. It is a reversible vase as different representations can be found on the display sides. On one side you can see musical muses and on the other, artfully knotted fabric panels. The muses are framed by a floral wreath and are playing a musical instrument and dancing. On the sides, ram heads can be seen under the impressively shaped handles. Measurments approx.: height 18,11 in - 46 cm, diameter 10,63 in - 27 cm This vase impresses with its relief work, as well as the colors and the hand-painted details that support and emphasize the depiction.
