About the Item

FDV is a collection of sculptural vases literally emerging from a block of Polystyrene. The block is first melted on the inside through acetone to obtain a partially controlled void, where the flowing of a mass of concrete leaves some of its fluid on the inner rough surface, in the form of a thin layer. “The Far Deep Void collection uses synthetic materials to mimic the form of organic matter. The vases are made by creating a spontaneous mold from a block of polystyrene” — Duccio Maria Gambi Duccio Maria Gambi maintains a research-storytelling approach where every work stands as a momentary reflection in an endless research on structures, materials, processes, time, which he carries on in his actual atelier and studio in his hometown Florence. Big part of his works revolves around stone, concrete and the creation of value with poor materials through the artistic intervention. Winner of Object section at Miart 2017, his work Retrostorico is since then part of the permanent collection of the Triennale Design Museum. Far Deep Void S2N2 was part of Metallica, an exhibition curated by Matteo Cibic that explores metal and its intrinsic qualities—ductility, malleability, reflection, and shine. Through the work of diverse and talented artists and designers, the show fosters new forms of dialogue and symbiosis, giving rise to unprecedented creative expressions. A contemplation on material and its energy, translated into a contemporary aesthetic code that embraces both art and design. Unique piece.
