About the Item

A very fine Derby porcelain campana shaped vase c.1815. Beautifully painted with two panels of fruit in the manner of Thomas Steele. This artist was one of the most talented and significant Derby artists. Two gilded snake handles adorn either side of the vase which together with the elegantly painted fruits and exceptional gilding designate this wonderful vase as one of the finest pieces offered from the Derby factory. There are traces of a gold crown, crossed batons over D mark to the base. It must be noted that this gold mark is said to denote a sign of quality and was only reserved for the best pieces which Derby produced during the Regency period.  Condition: Professional restoration to one of the handles and a couple of minor chips.
