Gunnar Nylund Swedish Midcentury Glass Vase B772, Strömbergshyttan

About the Item

Gunnar Nylund Glass from Strömbergshyttan B772 Gunnar Nylund designed glass in the 1950s–1970s for the Strömbergshyttan company. The artworks were crafted by hand, often with organic forms and modern expression. Gunnar Nylund (1904–1997) is mostly known as a ceramic designer for Rörstrand. But from 1953–1956, he also designed glass objects for the Swedish Strömbergshyttan company. The artworks were crafted by hand, often with organic forms and modern expression. In the late 1960s, Gunnar returned to the glassworks as a freelance designer for a few years. Most popular among contemporary collectors are the vases crafted by the Sommerso technique. These elegant pieces have a colored inner layer and a clear outer layer. They are engraved on the lower side with the model number (for example B773) and glassworks (Strömberg, Strömbergshyttan, or S). Unfortunately, the designer is rarely marked on the Strömbergshyttan glass. But newspaper articles and product catalogs from the era have shed some light on the origin of the artworks. This vase is marked. In our studio, we collect exciting pieces, mainly from the European period of the 1930s-1970s. We love bohemian and special pieces. We refurbish the furniture, always using classic craft techniques. During the renovation, we choose a textile from which we make only one piece. In this way, we make furniture of which there is guaranteed to be one. If you like any of our items, ask for a quote on shipping and we'll try to find the best price, depending on size and country. We hope you find an Urban you like:) Nori
