About the Item

This elegant handcrafted studio pottery vase is a captivating example of mid-century ceramic artistry, blending rustic charm with refined craftsmanship. Its gently undulating form is both organic and deliberate, exuding the tactile authenticity that only hand-thrown ceramics can provide. The exterior is enveloped in a flowing, glossy glaze, showcasing a soft palette of earthen taupes, browns, and mauve undertones that shift subtly with the light—giving the piece a warm, natural feel that complements a variety of interior styles. One side of the vase features a sculpted relief floral motif, adding a striking yet understated decorative element. This textured embellishment, delicately pressed and carved into the surface, recalls traditional botanical forms while offering a contemporary, artistic flair. The glazed surface exhibits a beautiful variation in tone and texture, a testament to its hand-applied technique and kiln-fired finish. The base of the vase is smooth and finished with six green felt pads, which not only protect surfaces but also suggest the thoughtful, studio-quality intent behind the piece. Though unsigned, its design and glaze style are reminiscent of American and Scandinavian studio pottery traditions popular from the 1960s through the 1980s. Ideal as a standalone art object, it also serves beautifully as a vessel for dried arrangements or simple, architectural stems. Whether used decoratively on a mantel, shelf, or side table, this piece adds warmth and soul to its surroundings.
